My parakeet is sick, not eating, and on cage bottom. What should I do?

Our poor parakeet Blueberry is really sick and the vet didn’t help and no bird vet avail until Monday yesterday his head was rocky and face feathers yellow and he perked up when we got home he made it through night and I was worried he wasn’t eating and so I put applesauce on his perch and this meonging his head is covered and he isn’t eating much he is now on bottom of cage and I’m trying to help him what to do he still made it up to his perch and nibbles on food no chirping

Thanks for reaching out about Blueberrry. Supplying supplemental heat at 80-85 F can give some support but is not a cure. A veterinary emergency clinic is recommended to provide subcutaneous fluids, start antibiotics. Removed perches and provide a soft towel on the bottom of the cage for comfort. Offer water via a small syringe. Possibilities include infections, metabolic disorders (liver, kidney), ingested or inhaled toxins. Once again, a veterinary visit on emergency is recommended.
