My kitten (who is 4 or 5 months old) has this wound on her front paw. We noticed it last night and cleaned out antiseptic on it. It doesn’t appear to be bothering her and we don’t know how long it has been there. Any idea what could have caused this? Is it a scrape? A blister? What should we do to promote healing? Thankyou!

Poor kitty! She may have just injured herself. I would gently clean the wound with warm water and antiseptic soap. To keep her from licking at it, you can put an Ecollar on her. You can get one at a pet store or make one at home. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and she will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it.

Poor kitty! The wound doesn't look too large or deep from the picture, so you can try treating it at home. I would gently clean the wound with warm water and antiseptic soap. Poor Baby! It definitely looks infection and I can't tell for sure but it also looks pretty deep. I worry without medical attention and oral antibiotics that it may not heal with just at home care. You can try to clean it with some mild soap (ex: dial gold or betadine) and water. I would also put a cone on her to prevent her from licking it. If she is scratching it and there is a way to put a baby t-shirt on her this may help prevent her from doing this as well. I would also put some neosporin on it twice a day. If it isn't healing or if it looks deep, I would strongly encourage you to have a vet take a look at it. She may need stitiches and even oral antibiotics to help it heal completely and in a timely manner. I hope this helps!
