My bearded dragon isn't growing and has closed eyes. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I have a bearded dragon that’s about 5 months old that hasn’t grown and appears blind. She closes her eyes often and walks into things. She eats about 6-8 crickets a day and some greens, both pretty vigorously. She doesn’t have diarrhea and seems otherwise healthy. She has a sweet temperament and loves to be handled. Any ideas what the issue could be? Our other 3 dragons are doing great. Thanks!

Intestinal parasites can cause this. If she has not had a fecal test and deworming then I would do that. She may have been born with a congenital eye issue. It could be cataracts. I can't tell because she does not have her eyes open in the photos. Intestinal parasites would be my first thought. I suggest you get her to a reptile vet for an exam. If you don't already have a vet you work with, I found this one in your area: ( https://svg-vets.com/well-pet-medical-services/ )
