My dog has recurring diarrhea and orange poop. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Great Dane | Male | neutered | 108 years and 2 months old | 168 lbs

I have a Dane 8 yrs, he has DCM. He has had diarrhea off and on for about three weeks on vet advice we have been feeding bland diet but each time I reintroduce small amount of food diarrhea returns. Now his motions are quite solid but a strange orange colour, he has eaten rice, chicken and Burgess which is deep brown in colour. He is not drinking excessively and his eyes and gums are not yellow. Good appetite and otherwise healthy, if not a bit quiet due to hot weather.

I suggest you try a probiotic like Fortiflora. This should help balance the normal bacteria in his GI tract. One sachet on food daily. It comes as a box of 30 sachets so I would give all 30 days. ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Purina-Fortiflora-Canine-Nutritional-Supplement/dp/B001650NNW )
