Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Female | 9 years and 1 month old | 10.5 lbs
Hello, my name is Jackie & I have a question & concern of my dog. She is purebred 9yr old chihuahua name Suzie. Several months have passed & I noticed that she had a bump or lump on her stomach that was smaller for awhile now & has been growing bigger. I would like to know what it is & can it be treated. I'm worried that it might be serious & don't know what to do since I don't have any type of insurance to treat this problem. Please if u can give me info or advice on how to approach this issue.

Hello. Suzie has a small button tumor, but there is no way at this point to know if it is dangerous ( malignant ) or quiet ( benign ) without being able to examine cells under the microscope. Treatment would most likely require surgery, but you certainly can have a simple, inexpensive needle aspirate done to see if this is an urgent situation or one that can be monitored for a while. I would visit with your veterinarian to see what your options might be & how much this will cost to deal with. Good luck & thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
