My cat has a hard scab under his fur after a bite. Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | 4 years and 4 months old | 21 lbs

My cat was bitten by another cat on weekend of 6/28/19. He has healed up nice but vet missed 1 wound and there is a hard scab under his fur. It is not soft or smell and does not seem to hurt him if I touch it, although he does not seem to like being poked there. He was given Convenia shot & rabies 6/30/19. The scab is still there today 7/23/19. Is this normal? Should I leave alone? Has it been too long for scab or is this time frame normal? Pics attached. Thanks sincerely. Ken

I would just leave it alone. A scab means that the body is healing a wound, it isn't a bad thing. As long as there is no discharge, foul odor, and Snoops's appetite and energy level are back to normal, no worries!
