Is it safe to deworm my pregnant cat with worms or parasites?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 10 months old | 7.71 lbs

My cat got pregnant accidentally. Her pregnancy approximate duration is 2 months. Recently, I observed some parasites in her feces. Is it safe to deworm her with any medication? If so, which medicine would be pregnancy safe? Thank you Rusho

She can be dewormed with pyrantel pamoate, which is the active ingredient in a number of commercially available dewormers for cats - you'll need to check labels and purchase one that contains pyrantel pamoate as its only active ingredient. The kittens can also be dewormed with the same product at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks of age.
