My cat has a swollen eye and is scratching his head. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 7 months and 12 days old

I noticed some swelling on my cat's skin around the eye. He has been scratching his head a lot recently, and it may have been caused due to excessive scratching but was hoping to get some expert opinion. Thank you in advance!

That is probably due to self traumatic injury due to a primary problem either on conjunctiva or corneal surface. Unfortunately in these cases a specific ophthalmologic examination would be essential to determine precisely the underlying problem and treat appropriately so I would strongly advice to have Taika checked by your local veterinarian.
