Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Halo is 2 yrs old now and I think he must of swallow something, I just don’t know what it was? This afternoon he was playing running around with me with his tennis ball but I don’t know if he ate a little of that fur thing. Now his trying to throw up and throwing up only white saliva but his laying down and trying to throw up and nothing else. He did eat normal and has been drinking water normal. What can it be??? Halo is laying down now I am keeping an eye on him.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question. Poor Halo! It sounds like he could have eaten something that has upset his stomach. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck.

Poor Bonsai! It could be that he has a GI illness causing him to vomit. I would feed him a a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps!
