My dog vomited after tuna juice, now eating grass. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 6 years and 9 months old | 79 lbs

My black lab is 6. Two nights ago I gave her some tuna juice on her into the wilderness food. She puked it up four hours later. Today she ate a little food and I came home from work and she had vomited it up. She is acting normal and is eating grass not her food. She has eaten grass since she was a pup. She pooped a little this morning. Her stomach is not distended and she doesn’t seem to be in pain. Please help!

It sounds like the tuna juice upset Dahlia's stomach. I wouldn't give it to her again. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck.
