Hi I have a 6 month old cocker spaniel and two days ago I believed she had a bug bit, black fly or mosquito on her eye, but now it is quite swollen. It looks like cherry eye from what I see online. Can you confirm how to proceed ? I am 2 half hrs from a vet , and any treatment suggestions?

If the eye is swollen, she should be examined by the veterinarian. A swelling generally indicated an infection or a piece of foreign material trapped in the skin. Regardless, this is not normal and I recommend to have her examined today for appropriate treatment. Protect the eye from any further trauma by having her wear an elizabethan collar at all times. Best of luck.
