My dog has chronic diarrhea despite many vet visits. What can I do?

Mía has soft poop or diarrhea almost every other day. We have been to the vet many of times and have even done fecal tests. I’m becoming very frustrated but I don’t know what to do about it anymore. One day she’s fine and the next it’s like water. She even had a grain free diet. I feel helpless. :(. Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Female | spayed | 6 months and 6 days old | 25 lbs

It can be very frustrating to work up diarrhea! You might discuss emperical treatment for intestinal parasites and giardia with your vet (many times a pet can have giardia but it cannot be seen on every fecal exam). Food allergies aren't terribly common in puppies, but a grain-free diet isn't going to be the answer. It could be something in that diet that causes Mia to have diarrhea. You might discuss a hypoallergenic food or an easily digestible diet with your vet. Blood work and a GI panel may also be needed to look for any actual intestinal disease. Prescription probiotics are a great idea while we are working on diagnosis.
