My budgie's vent feathers are yellow and falling out. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Male | 0.055 lbs

One of the budgies I bought seven days ago has very little amount of feathers around his vent, and those are yellowish. What could be the reason? He eats seed mix, mineral block, leaves and egg food. He is not hurt, eats properlyand drinks from a dispenser bubble. I have two budgies the other one is female and perfectly okay.

Thanks for reaching out about Sky and including photos. Accumulated feces or urates can lead to feather loss. This can be caused by diarrhea which can be due to intestinal infections or parasites, metabolic diseases (liver, renal), and other problems. Monitor food and water intake. If persists, a veterinary visit is recommended. Good luck.
