Puppy ate cat food, now has diarrhea. Is chicken & rice okay?

6 wk old male German Shepard. Brought him home yesterday. He had light brown soft stools and today has become watery. He has energy, eats and drinks fine. He did get into the cat’s food once yesterday and early this morning. He’s quick! Can we try boiled chicken and white rice to try and settle his tummy? Or should we wait and see if his system self corrects.

Hi, and thanks for your question. I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.
