My dog is vomiting, not eating, and tearing up. Vet visit needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 4 years and 8 months old | 32 lbs

My dog woke up vomiting yesterday, he didn't eat during the whole day and doesn't want to eat today. He has been pooping okay, actually more than normal but not diarrhea. He has also been tearing up this past week which is not normal on him. Should I take him to the vet today or should I wait til Monday? Also, he was eating grass today while he was out.

Hi, and thanks for your question. These signs could be compatible with an inflammation infection of the gastrointestinal system and surrounding organs (like pancreas and liver). A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is immediately essential (today i think it is best) to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics and possibly further investigations (like abdominal imaging as ultrasound or radiographs) may be needed.
