Is it safe to walk my 11-week-old puppy after his first shots?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Belgian Malinois | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 19 days old | 20 lbs

Hello, I have a male, 11 week old Belgian Malinois who has had his 1st set of shots & his DHP shot about a week ago. We have not taken him out anywhere other than our own backyard, but he is getting STIR CRAZY being cooped up. My question, is he able to be taken on walks around our neighborhood? No parks, just a normal walk to burn up this energy????

I recommend to wait until after the second set of vaccines (although he still will not be fully protected). If you back yard is fenced in, inaccessible to stray dogs/wild canids, and no dog who survived parvo has been in your back yard for the past 2 years, it should be fine to take him there to play. I hope this helps.
