When should I take my dog and new puppies to the vet after birth?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 12 lbs

Cookie gave birth on June 20th,2019 to 7 healthy puppies, how soon after her labor should I take her to see a vet?

Hi there. If mom and pups are doing fine, there's no need to take them to the vet right now - this can be stressful for both the mother dog and puppies, and can also unnecessarily expose the pups to illnesses. The pups will need to be dewormed at 2 weeks and 4 weeks, but you can do this yourself or pick up dewormer from your vet's office. As long as everyone is healthy, you can plan to take them in for their first puppy exams at 6-8 weeks of age.
