My dog's neuter incision looks concerning. Is it healing okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My dog was neutered 3 weeks ago which is taking a while to heal due to it coming open a bit a couple of days after. I got it checked out and it didn't need any further intervention. Attached are pics of how it looks now. Just checking ( again) if this looks to be healing ok as I'm not back at vet til Friday but not sure if it's going ok. There are two big areas in the incision that are visible in the picture. I think there is suture (dissolvable) between and worried it's too tight in that area.

It looks like things are still healing well. You may notice some of the sutures loosening and this is normal as long as the incision continues to heal. So far, the sutures look fine and they are not interfering with healing. Continue the current therapy until he is cleared on Friday. The incision looks like it is healing well. I can see a bit of suture material but it doesn't look like anything it too tight. As long as it is not red, weeping any liquid and your dog seems comfortable and doesn't lick or chew at it, I would keep an eye on it and see the vet on Friday.
