Dog throwing up brown, normal bloodwork, slimy poop. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 1 month old | 16 lbs

My dog is throwing up brown, he has gone to the vet and his blood work came up normal. He still drinks water and plays, he does not seem to be in pain. He isn't hungry. He poops with a slimy mucus. What could be going on?

That's good that the bloodwork is normal. Since he is still vomiting however, that means the cause has not be discovered. Next steps could include an x-ray to check for a foreign body in the stomach, possibly a diet trial with a hydrolyzed protein to look into food allergy, giardia testing, fecal culture or even a trial of Tylosin powder. The blood work ruled out organ disease as a cause for vomiting, not it's time to go look into the other causes. I hope this helps.
