Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 9 months and 12 days old | 9 lbs
Benji has been eating dry food. Has been for the last 6 months. I got a kitten and I’ve been feeding the kitten wet food, which Benji has been eating. His baby sitter has been feeding him the wet food. Benji is now puking and how vet isn’t taking appts until next week. I also live where there isn’t a emergency vet close by. Anything I can do to calm his stomach in the meantime?

Poor Benji! It is important to note that the vomiting may or may not be related to the canned food. While it is a change in his diet, the kitten could have also introduced a virus or parasites which may cause vomiting. Other causes are possible as well. Here is a helpful link including treatment: https://www.petcoach.co/article/vomiting-in-cats/ A bland diet may help but some cats can be very finicky about eating these. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. You could use the ultra low fat hamburger boiled instead of the chicken as well. Definitely stop giving the canned food and only offer the normal dry food. Dehydration is the biggest concern for make sure he is drinking/holding down water. I also recommend to try to get him into a different vet sooner. If he continues to vomiting beyond 24 hours or if he gets worse, start looking for a different clinic. Make sure to bring in a stool sample for parasite testing. Try to get both kittens on the same diet (which should be kitten food). Best of luck and I hope Benji starts feeling better quickly.
