Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 25 days old | 6.5 lbs
My dog seems to be constipated and is stool is a mixture of soft, runny, and firm. Lighter color. When he poops, he will poop and then find another area to poop again but nothing/a little bit of wet stool will come out. Ive been feeding him pure pumpkin filling and his normal dog food (Scientific Formula). This has been going on for three days. 1) Should I give him something else? 2) What do you recommend I should do for him? Thanks in advance!

Poor Bruiser! The abnormality with the stool could be due to many conditions including an infection, parasites, eating something he shouldn't have or even something more sinister like an intestinal blockage. Since he has had abnormal stool beyond 24 hours and he is not responding to the home care, I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian. With continued abnormal stool, there are often bacterial shifts in the gut that will make matters worse regardless of the initial cause. Make sure to bring in a sample of fresh stool. The doctor will check him for parasites and bacterial over growth. It's best to play it safe with young puppies. The veterinarian may also recommend a special diet for him as well as medications. A different home prepared diet may also help. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. I hope Bruiser starts feeling better quickly! Please feel free to post any additional questions!
