My cat keeps trying to throw up, but nothing comes out. Hairball?

I have a maine coon mix and she's been been fixed. close to 5 pm she tried throwing up and didn't get nothing up the she tried again at 1:53 am while laying on me. just wondering whats going on. chris. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 lbs

Hi Chris, This could be something easy like a hairball but it could also be something more serious. If she is otherwise acting normally you can try treating for hairballs first to see if that helps. If not, and the behavior continues, she needs to see a vet. I suggest you use Laxatone - 1/2 teaspoon once a day for 7 days and then, if it has helped, use 2-3 times per week for maintenance.
