Puppy has diarrhea & vomiting after food change. What should I feed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shiba Inu | Female | spayed | 2 months old | 24 lbs

My puppy just came home. She was eating a mix of puppy food kibble (chicken) and wet cat food. I put her on a natural chicken Origen puppy kibble mixed in with old food. She now has semi soft diarrhea and vomited a yellowish liquid twice. What do I feed her?

Just hold her off food for about 4-6 hours and then try to feed her again but just the old food. NO cat food. Orijen is very high in protein and is very rich which is not really recommended. It is an expensive fad diet in my opinion. You are better off putting her on a good small to medium breed puppy food like Royal Canin if you want to change diets. You can mix in some of their canned puppy food if you wish in place of the cat food. ( http://www.royalcanin.ca/products/dog-nutrition/growing-puppy )
