Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 10 days old

Hi.. Im planning to get Mini mated on her next heat which will be her 2nd heat.. What precautions and care should I take about her health before I get her mated? Also is it okay if I get it done on her 2nd heat or is it too soon?

It is best to wait to breed any dog until they are 18-24 months of age. I think she is too young and you should wait. Here is more information about breeding dogs. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
