Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Bully | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 12 days old | 3.97 lbs

my 6 weeks old puppy is lethargic since this morning. she ate and drink very little. i brought her to vet this noon to have her examined. body temperature was okay, her stool sample was okay, CBC result shows she's slighty anemic and have bacterial infection. i was advised to forcefeed her, give her antibiotics and give her gatorade. but this evening, 2 hours after feeding her, she pooped and it looks like mucus with slight hint of blood. what should i do?

Once instance of mucousy diarrhea with some blood tinge is not overly concerning if the puppy is eating and otherwise acting normally. I suggest you get him back to the vet as soon as possible if the signs persist or worsen. The mucus can be concerning as the parvo virus will slough the intestinal lining making it look like this so if the puppy is ill you need to consider this could be parvo virus infection in which case, this would be an emergency.
