My cat is sneezing with mucus. Should I see a vet or wait it out?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 15 years and 4 months old | 18 lbs

my sons cat is sneezing and has a lot if mucus should i suggest a vet visit ir is this something that will go away on its own

If Sparty isn't eating, if he is acting lethargic, or if there is a change in his breathing where he seems labored at all when breathing or if his respiratory rate is too fast (persistently more than 50 breaths per minute), he should be seen by a vet. If its truly just the sneezing an mucous, its reasonable to keep the nose wiped clean with a damp cloth or some saline nasal drops, use a humidifier to help soothe the nasal passages as well. If there is no improvement with 5-7 days, get him in to see the vet. If any of the other symptoms earlier start to be an issue, get him in sooner.
