Dog constantly licking and biting air: Is it seizures or dental pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chorkie | Female | spayed | 5 years and 2 months old | 5 lbs

My chorkie keeps licking and biting the air. I have read she is having seizures, but she does it constantly most of the day. Is she okay?

She could be irritated by something inside her mouth. If it is happening all day, then it is highly unlikely that it is a seizure. To be sure, I would video tape the event and then have her evaluated by your vet. THe vet can do a complete oral exam to check for signs of dental disease. Also if you notice she is grinding her teeth, this can be a sign of GI disease, such as indigestion. I hope that things work out well for your pet Bella moving forward. Take care!
