New 7-week puppy has diarrhea, not eating. Stress or serious issue?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 20 days old

I bought a 7 weeks puppy and he’s been having diarrhea for the pass 3 days and just recently he’s not eating, but was fine the first day I brought him home. Is it because of the stress of a new home or is something more serious than that?

Stress, diet change and worms are the most common reasons for a puppy to have diarrhea; even if he was previously dewormed. I suggest you have a fecal test done at your vet's to check for worms. Diarrhea in a young puppy can easily cause dehydration so I wouldn't let this go on too long without finding out what the problem is.
