Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 7 years and 8 months old | 9 lbs
8yo F DSH cat with a swollen, red eye with discharge. Also seems to have laryngitis and is coughing. Still eating/drinking, acting normal otherwise. She was seen by vet 2 weeks ago for a checkup and recommendation that she have teeth pulled due to severe gingivitis. Did full blood work and there were no issues or infections at that time. Recently got a new cat from a rescue who had a minor URI. She is very scared of vet so I need advice is this is urgent or is it likely a viral URI?

Hi, and thanks for your question. This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection and possibly to a conjunctivitis. Viral disease is likely but possibly there is a secondary bacterial infection as well. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed.
