My dog has bloody diarrhea. Should I fast her or give her pumpkin?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 8 years old | 54 lbs

i my dog vega was diagnosed with colitis we did a round of flagil, and that seemed to clear it up. She is purina pro plan gastroenteric EN dog food. Well last night she started having diarria again with blood. Vet wants me to do a round of probiotics to see if this helps. And also i think my granddaughter gave vega some of her chicken nuggets the other night. Should I stop feeding her for 24 hours? Or should I be doing something else for her? Could it be something else? Is pumpkin ok?

Hit could be a flare up from the chicken nuggets. Probiotics are a great diet. You could pull food for 12-24 hours, but make sure that Vega is still drinking plenty of water and does not have vomiting or gagging that could be caused by nausea. A tablespoon of canned pumpkin is ok when she is feeling better.
