Dog has blood after wiping and less frequent bowel movements?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | unneutered | 12 years and 8 months old

My pet takes gabapentin and has been on Rimadyl with a change in diet he has bad arthritis. I have noticed his bowel movements are less frequent. Was neutered 2 months ago. His new food has more fiber than the previous food and he driinks his water. I wiped his butt and noticed a drop of blood any suggestions?

I wouldn't be overly concerned unless the blood continues. Usually a drop of blood is just due to some minor colon irritation or straining. Of course there are other possibilities as to why there could be blood in the stool but I would only be worried if this is a persistent problem.
