Is my dog's spay incision normal? Why is she shaking after surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 9 months and 1 day old | 30 lbs

Hello. I got my dog Chloe spayed today and I just wanted to know if her incision looks normal? It looks a little weird to me but I've never seen a dog after a spay so I really don't know. And she is also shaking a looot..almost all the time. Is that because of the pain? And is that normal?

The incision looks normal for a freshly spayed dog. It is not exactly a very pretty incision, but it will heal nicely eventually. She is likely shaking due to after effects from the anesthesia and pain. You should give her the pain medicine given to you for her by your vet, of if he did not give you any, ask him for some pain medicine.
