Why is my cat's litter mushy and stuck? Is it diarrhea or urine?

When cleaning out our cats litter box we found out that som of the litter got stuck to the bottom it kind of turned mushy. Was wandering if this is something to be worried about. Is this diarrhea? Or is it just urine

It could be urine. I find that when I clean my cats's litter boxes, there is some that is stuck to the bottom and is mushy, and it is always urine. I would expect if it was diarrhea, it would be a bit thicker in consistency. You can keep an eye on the area to be safe, and take your cats into the vet for a check up to make sure everything is ok. It does indeed look like diarrhea. The fact that she peed on the carpet right in front of you means she is trying toell you that she is not feeling well, or she had to go really bad and could not wait until you were done cleaning the litter box. Diarrhea in cats is tricky. It could be caused by intestinal parasites, a gastro-intestinal infection, food indiscretion, stress, etc. I would take your kitty to a vet for an exam on Monday.

I am sorry to hear about your kitty! If the food appears different than the one he normally eats it is possible that perhaps there is a different additive or food coloring that has upset his stomach (or is it possible it is a different flavor even though the brand is the same). We can see some pets have GI upset from quick changes in diet. That being said, we can also see diarrhea from other causes, including GI parasites, bacterial overgrowth, inflammatory bowel disease, as a symptom of systemic illness, and more. If he is still energetic with no vomiting you could try getting a probiotic from your vet or the pet store for him which can sometimes help with diarrhea and feeding something bland for a few days (such as plain white rice and shredded boiled chicken or lean ground chicken) or picking up the food you normally get at the pet store and trying this for a few days. Female cat 15 yrs old...last two weeks, litter box is full of slimy looking urine. It's hard to clean the box it's so slimy. And large quantities of it.
Urine with an unusual "sticky" feeling is a common sign of diabetes, due to increased levels of glucose in the urine - this is a common problem in older cats. Other things that could cause an increased amount of urine in the litterbox along with an abnormal appearance would include chronic kidney disease, or hyperthyroidism. I would recommend taking CC to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to - he/she can do blood work and urine testing to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

Liky may be defecating outside the litter box because of the diarrhea. Diarrhea could be related to intestinal parasites, eating something that caused stomach upset, or a food sensitivity. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian again - they may want to check a stool sample for parasites or run some other tests and can also prescribe medication to help the diarrhea.

cats will often have accidents outside the box when they have diarrhea, as they cannot always control it. if it happens more than once i would recommend taking him to the vet in order to get it treated.

My cats stool is very soft/mushy, what can I do to fix this?
These signs could be compatible with a colitis, which is an inflammation of the last part of the colon, usually related to dietary indiscretion. As a first approach, I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Hi there! I'm fine, thank you, hope you are doing well :-) Not using the litter box can be a sign of a medical illness, such as a UTI or bladder stone. I would recommend taking Rose into your vet today for an exam. Your vet can do routine blood tests and a urinalysis to see if she does have a UTI or bladder stones. If she has a UTI, she will need antibiotics to treat it. Bladder stones may need to be removed surgically, or can be managed with diet. As for the diarrhea, that could be caused by a GI illness, stress, eating something rotten, or a foreign body. If Rose has a medical illness, that will be stressful for her, and it could be the cause of her diarrhea. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or beco

Hello. My 3 year old cat had an accident just in front of her littler box. She’s never done that before. It was greenish in colour. The reason I suspect urine and NOT vomit, is there was no chunks or foam in it. It wasn’t dry, so I suspect it’s new.
Poor Ovey. It still could be vomit even if there isn't chunks or foam in it. I'd keep a close eye on her for now. If you see another accident like this, she is lethargic, has diarrhea, or h as a loss of appetite, take her into a vet immediately. Best of luck.

I would inform the owners and ask them their wishes. If they are going to be gone for an extended period, I would feel better if the cat could be seen by a vet before then, since the condition seems to be not improving. They may need to call their vet to authorize you to take the cat in on their behalf. Since you are the sitter, I could see him maybe peeing outside the box in protest to someone else taking care of them, but, unless the cat is extremely sensitive to stress, I wouldn't think a petsitter would be enough to make him have intestinal upset. He could have parasites, a bacterial infection or has eaten something that disagreed with him, among other possibilities. If they will be home in the next day or so they may want to get him seen themselves and as long as he continues to eat and drink and behave normally, that should be okay.
