Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 5 days old | 10 lbs
My 9 week old austrtalian shepherd accidentally swallowed one pill of Tumeric for dogs that my old dog uses for arthritis. The normal dosage for a dog is 300mg for a 2 pill dose. Will this harm him

No need to worry about this. Tumeric is a rather safe spice that is tolerated well in high quantities. It's possible that this will cause an upset stomach leading to vomiting or diarrhea, but I wouldn't expect any other complications beyond that. As a side note: tumeric is not very effective for arthritis, but probably won't hurt to give as a supplement. Below is a link to some helpful information about the use of tumeric in dogs. http://skeptvet.com/Blog/2013/09/turmeric-for-pets/ I hope that helps and all is well with Spud.

He should be fine. I’ve found with turmeric the excess isn’t absorbed well and will be passed in the stool. The correct dose is variable so there shouldn’t be a toxicity issue. Please monitor Spud and take him in if you see severe diarrhea or vomiting, or lethargy. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Spud.
