Pet's info: Dog | Coton de Tulear | Female | spayed | 7 years and 11 months old | 16.13 lbs
Hello, I woke up to my dog whining at 6am, but didn't think anything of it at first because she usually does so for me to let her into the room. But when I came out, I saw vomit in a few spots on the floor. It looked like undigested food. She was fine the night before. She only threw up once from the looks of it and around 7:30am dry heaved just a little. After that she seemed fine and fell asleep.

I am sorry to hear that Marshmallow isn’t feeling well. If she continues to vomit ornis she won’t eat then she should be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, Addison’s disease, And intestinal foreign objects are all possible causes. If she is feeling well you can try a small amount of a bland diet such as boiled chicken and rice. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.

Throwing up can have many causes. It is basically a problem with the stomach and intestines caused by a food over sensitivity, eating something that does not agree with the dog, intestinal parasites, bacterial infection, viral infection, the weather, food change, stress, rapid overeating, etc. I would fast Grey for 12 hours and then put her on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to her regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the vomiting, or if it increases, or if she gets lethargic, she needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.

I'd keep an eye on Roxy for now, and I can give you a home remedy for her. Withhold food for 6 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps.
