My dog ate kibble, is vomiting, and has a hard stomach. What now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | unspayed | 22 lbs

My dog ate a large quantity of kibble accidentally (she assaulted the food storage). She has a very hard large stomach, but no other bloating symptoms. She's been vomiting large amounts of kibble, she's been passing gas and is quite relaxed and sleeping. She's a French bulldog, 2 years old

Oh no, poor Tartine! It is concerning she is vomiting large amount of kibbles, but that's great there is no sign of bloat. Keep monitoring her closely for signs of bloat, and I can give you a home remedy for the vomiting to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck.
