My cat's skin is red after antifungal cream. Is it a normal reaction?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Sokoke | Male | neutered | 1 month and 26 days old

The antifungal cream, which my vet gave to my cat, makes a part of his skin reddish (actually I'm not even sure if that's the cause but there was nothing like that before applying it). Not all the areas which I apply the cream are like that but only a part of it.Is it normal? Should I stop applying it? Or should I continue? I'll see my vet again on Friday but I can't visit him before it.

I am sorry we couldn't get to your question sooner. This is a question best suited for your vet. Most creams that I prescribe shouldn't cause a red reaction to the skin - this could be caused by either that particular medication or just the infection it is being used to treat. I would call the vet and get their recommendation on whether you should stop the cream or continue its use, since they are most familiar with the case.
