Why is my spayed cat lethargic, not eating, and possibly depressed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 6 lbs

Dear Team, i have adopted a two month kitten 2 years ago and when i found her she was hit and with teeth broken but fortunately she was saved and cured. She suffered from this trauma and was never social with us but with the passing of time she showd some progres. 1 month ago we sterilised her and two days ago she stopped eating and drinking and is at complete lethargy. blood and teeth analysis from vet have shown good results, vet says that she is like this due to depression. What do you suggest

What a sweet face she has! Thank you for taking such good care of her. If she is still acting lethargic, and if she isn't eating, please take her to your vet for a recheck, even if she was just in. An appetite stimulant may be helpful (which your vet can prescribe) and some fluids may also help make her feel a little better. Thanks for asking Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach, I hope she is feeling better now.
