My dog has car anxiety. Can CBD oil help, and is it addictive?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 3 years and 9 months old | 69 lbs

It's 19 months I have my 1st dog. I I've started some training an app on the phone to break kyros focus. From day one Kyro thinks automobiles are prey depending on the noise they make, size and what direction their coming from. Even using treats and balls (Kyro loves balls) to break his focus its hardly successful. Trainer and myself agree its anxiety based. Any experiences, advice, suggestions or input about trying CBD oil with Kyro? Will he get addicted?

It is worth a try, there is anecdotal evidence that CBD oil can be helpful for anxiety, though we don't have a good deal of actual scientific evidence to support its use. It is not an addictive substance; the body won't develop a "need" for it over time, and generally its safe and well tolerated when used according to label directions. Just be sure to use one that is designed for use in dogs. Thanks for asking Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
