Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 15 years and 11 months old | 5.5 lbs
I just put down a 16 year old cat, who had long been losing weight, and it turns out she had diabetes. She had always been playful and hyper until the last several months, I had assumed it was(like her weight loss) due to old age. She was to the point though she started urinating outside the box, emaciated, with sunken eyes and had problems walking around for long stretches. Also unable to keep down food and drinking nonstop. Was I wrong to have let her go?

It is never a wrong decision to let an animal go when they have a disease, even a treatable one. Diabetes is extremely difficult, frustrating and a ton of work on everyone's part. Some cats do great, while others don't do well at all. You took into account her quality of life and that is what we have to do when making decisions like this. Her quality was not there and for her you did the right thing. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
