My dog is throwing up blood and has bloody diarrhea. Can't afford vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | spayed | 10 years old | 8 lbs

My dog is still throwing up blood and has bloody diarrhea. I don’t know what to do. I gave her a little bit of Chamoline tea with a syringe since she hasn’t eaten or drank anything for a while and gave her diarrhea medicine but it doesn’t seem to be working. Please help !! I don’t have money to take her to the vet and she’s pretty old so I don’t want to even think about her leaving soon. She also has cataracts in both eyes and bad joints. We’ve been treating that recently and it seemed to work.

Rocksey sounds like she is very ill, and is likely suffering a lot. She needs to be seen by a vet right away. Blood in the stool and vomit and diarrhea could be caused by parasites, change in diet, toxin ingestion, infectious viral diseases, blockage in the intestines caused by ingestion of a foreign body, or a mass/growth in the gastrointestinal tract. Please make an appointment to have Rocksey seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible, as diarrhea, vomiting and blood in the stool can lead to dehydration and anemia, and can be very dangerous if left untreated. I recommend taking in a fecal sample from Rocksey to your vet as well, as that may aid them in making a diagnosis. If you are unable to afford a vet visit, I recommend you contact your local Humane Society and explain the situation. They may be able to direct you to someone who can assess Rocksey.
