Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | West Highland White Terrier | Female | spayed | 15 years and 3 months old | 16 lbs

My 15-year-old Westy , I’ve been told by my vet only has 25% kidney function. What should I expect during this time for my Dear dear friend she has been with me for last 15 years we’ve lived together we are a team. She has already eating the science diet kidney food and she’s also taking a compounded script for stomach and hoping it binds to phosphate etc.

Maisie is beautiful. I would enjoy every moment you have with her. Lots of love and cuddles. Keep her on the kidney food, as it has been scientifically proven to help with prolonging life in dogs with kidney disease. Monitor her for worrying signs such as lethargy, anorexia, vomiting, increased urination, and weight loss. If you see any of those signs, take her into the vet. Best of luck.
