My dog has bloody poop and worms. Is he sick or just ate something bad?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 19 lbs

I don’t know if I should be worried about my chihuahua mix. He is 1 year old and did this two weeks ago. I got him dewormer bc I thought is what it was. And he was fine. Now it happened again. I don’t know if it’s just something bad he ate outside or if he is sick. But I don’t have the money to take him to the vet. What is your opinion?

Poor Bubba's poop looks a bit bloody and I see some worms in there. He needs another deworming treatment now, as it takes at least two of them given two weeks apart to kill all the worms. Give him another deworming treatment today, another in two weeks, and then give him one every three months thereafter. If this does not help with his poop or he becomes anorexia, lethargic, or starts vomiting, he needs to see a vet. I hope this helps!
