Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 4 years and 5 months old | 32 lbs

My dog just threw up like this, what could it be? He has never thrown up like this. He had not eaten anything, yesterday i got him new treats, and earlier today i gave him a few kibbles duck flavor as treats that he has never had before.

Poor Iker! It could be the new treats you gave him causing the vomiting. A sudden change in diet such as new treats can causing GI upset. I can give you a home remedy for him to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps!

It sounds like the new treat could be causing the vomiting. Introduction of new foods can cause GI upset in dogs, leading to vomiting. Because he's eating and drinking normally, and has only vomited three times in eight hours, you can try a home remedy to see if that helps his stomach. I would avoid giving him those new treats from now on, as it sounds like they may not settle well with his stomach.
