My dog is lethargic and not eating after spay surgery. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 26 lbs

We are new pet owners and our dog is a 2 year old puggle. We adopted her Saturday, April 6th. She was extremely active up until today. Now all she is doing is laying down and not eating. She does have stitches from being spayed.

Poor Delilah. Being too active while recovering from a spay surgery can cause post-operative complications and may be the cause behind her sudden symptoms. I think it's best you take her into a vet now for a health check. Best of luck.
