Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 3 years and 3 months old

Worried about our havapoo, Tuesday started vomiting. Wednesday he didn’t want to eat, Thursday he ate but vomited. Friday he had no appetite and seemed to be struggling to poo. Saturday he was hungry ate normal food. Sunday he had bloody diarrhea many times. Today he has been more lively though still not himself, he has been hungry looking for food and had chicken. Vets gave anti sickness and tummy injection friday and yesterday antibiotics, injections, pro booties and took stool samples.

Hello, thank you for your question about Charlie. Based on your description it sounds like Charlie is experiencing some GI upset which can occur due to infection, inflammation, ingestion of foreign material, or GI parasites. It sounds like your veterinarian performed all the right treatments. Since Charlie is starting to have an appetite and has been keeping food down I would recommend continuing to monitor him for continued improvement. If at any point he begins to vomit, continues to have diarrhea, or doesn't return to his normal self I would recommend having him rechecked by your veterinarian so that they can consider further diagnostic workup - which may include bloodwork or x-rays of his abdomen. Hope this helps!
