My dog stepped on a wasp. How soon will an allergic reaction show?

Jasper stepped on a wasp for the 1st time. If he's allergic, how soon will the symptoms present? Pet's info: Dog | Havanese | Male | neutered | 6 years and 9 months old | 11 lbs

You would probably see the signs of an allergic reaction in an hour or two - watch for facial swelling, redness around the eyes or muzzle, and hives. If you notice these signs you should see a veterinarian right away. Fortunately anaphylactic reactions are very rare in dogs, but signs of anaphylaxis would include difficulty breathing, severe vomiting and diarrhea and/or collapse.
