My dog is shaking, lethargic, and has a hard stomach. Is he sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 25 lbs

We have noticed Dodger is shaking, doesn’t want to move, does not want to drink water, and stomach feels a little hard. He’s eating(put him on bland diet today) and has pooped one time today early morning, it was a mixture of solid and diarrhea-like. When walking he walks very slow and does not jump on the couch like he always does and does not bother going up our stairs. I am not aware of anything bad he could have eaten, only thing would be our cats food here and there.

Poor guy. Since his symptoms are so vague and don't really indicate one thing or another (dietary indiscretion, bacterial infection, viral infection, etc) , and he is still eating well, I would continue the bland diet for now and see how he is in the morning. If he is still not well or has pale gums at any point, then it is best to take him in to your vet for some testing to help determine what the underlying problem likely is so that we can treat Dodger appropriately. I do hope that he is able to make a full and speedy recovery from whatever his ailment is. Best wishes and take care!
