My dog had Parvo, now she's vomiting. Is it related to Parvo?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 5 lbs

our 5 year old dog was diagonized with Parvo and underwent 3 days treatment at the hospital and then treated at home with food, water and medicines as prescribed and kept under isolation. She was recovering well and has been active. Would hold up her potty for 2 days and her potty was formed but slightly loose, had blood stain 1 or 2 times in the last 2 weeks. But after 2 weeks she vomited 2wice and was mostly non-digested food. What should we think of this?

It sounds like it's been about a month since she was treated for parvo, so it is probably unrelated. She could have a more sensitive gastrointestinal system right now after being wiped out by the parvo. If she is lethargic, not eating, vomiting more than a couple times a day, or it goes on for more than two or three days, I would recommend going to the vet for evaluation. If you have any handy, you could try giving her a probiotic now to help settle her system. She may simply need probiotics and a bland diet for a little while, or there could be something more serious going on, which is why I think of vet visit would be appropriate.
