My kitten refuses dry food. Is it okay if she only eats wet food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Scottish Fold Longhair | Female | unspayed | 9 months and 5 days old | 6.7 lbs

I’ve had my kitten for almost 10 months now and I have failed to find a dry food that brings her to want to eat. She will eat only a few bites and then cover it up. I’ve tried many different brands and i am aferaid that she isn’t getting enough food. I have started giving her more canned food to try and help her get what she needs but she didn’t like dry food.

Some cats are just very picky. As long as she's an ok weight (which your vet can tell you), it's fine if she's only on wet food. Dry food is generally more of a high carb food for cats anyways, so her weight may be easier to control on an all or mostly wet diet.
